Descriptions and Order of Attachment
Below are the descriptions of the most popular grain bin attachments for controlling the flow of feed when unloading the bin. They are listed in order from where the hopper walls come together at the collar, all the way through the end dispensing point.
Grain Bin Collars
The bin collar allows for the attachment of various accessories and provides a seamless transition to the poly boot from which everything is hung. These one-piece collars are designed to fit 16-in diameter bin openings and come in three different top angles to facilitate a smooth transition to the cone walls.
- For 6' diameter bins: 60-degree angle with 24 holes (approx. 2 ¼ inches apart)
- For 7' diameter bins: 67-degree angle with 24 holes (approx. 2 ¼ inches apart)
- For 9' diameter bins: 60-degree angle with 18 holes (approx. 3 inches apart)
Once attached to the bin, the bottom collar serves as the foundation for the integration of slide valves, poly boots, and unloaders. This configuration allows for the controlled dispensing of grain and other materials, providing a seamless and efficient grain-handling solution for unloading your bin.
Feed Bin Boot
A Grain Bin Boot is what all of your unloading attachments hang from the base of a grain bin. The Poly Boot is securely fastened to the base of the bulk feed bin through a collar and is seamlessly connected to the slide valve below it. This strategic connection creates a transition from the round bottom opening of the bin, where the taper hopper sections converge, to the rectangular entrance of either the auger unloader or the slide valve itself. This design allows for a smooth and controlled transition, optimizing the flow of grain and preventing disruptions or overloads in downstream equipment.
Slide Valve
In conjunction with the Grain Bin Boot, the Slide Valve assumes a critical role. Located at the bottom of the boot, the slide valve functions as a regulatory mechanism. This manual gate gives direct control over the grain flow and can be used to prevent issues such as overfilling to stop the flow completely.
Auger Boxes for Unloading
The auger box is a popular optional accessory that can be hung below and from the poly boot. The box serves as a strategic collection point for the auger, streamlining the grain-handling process.
