Range Cube Feeders for Pickup Trucks and Cattle

A truck-mounted range cube feeder helps distribute supplemental cattle feed across pastures without repeatedly handling bags or leaving the pickup at every feeding location. Barn World carries the Hastings Kattle Kaker range cube feeder, designed to dispense compatible range cake, cubes, wafers, and pellets using a cab-operated discharge gate.

Hastings Kattle Kaker: 500-Pound Range Feeder

The Kattle Kaker combines a welded angle-iron support frame with an 18-gauge galvanized steel feed bin and a hinged cover. Its listed capacity is 500 pounds, with approximate overall dimensions of 36 inches long, 35 inches wide, and 36 inches high. A spring-loaded gate is operated by an included nylon rope-and-pulley system, allowing the driver to dispense feed from the cab when properly installed.

Straight Chute and Optional Offset Chute

The standard straight chute directs feed behind the unit. An optional offset chute provides six inches of adjustment for directing feed closer to a vehicle's tire track. Confirm the chute configuration, intended feed material, and mounting requirements before ordering.

Choosing a Cattle Cube or Cake Feeder

  • Vehicle fit: Measure bed space and verify the pickup's payload rating for the feeder, feed load, passengers, and other cargo.
  • Feed compatibility: Check whether the gate and chute handle your range cubes, cake, wafers, or pellets; material size and moisture affect flow.
  • Feeding route: Consider where feed will land and whether a straight or offset chute is appropriate.
  • Installation and operation: Secure the unit according to manufacturer instructions and test the gate, rope, and pulley arrangement before use.
  • Maintenance: Inspect the cover, frame, chute, and gate regularly, and protect feed from moisture and contamination.

Cab-operated dispensing can reduce the need to exit the truck during feeding, but drivers still need to operate safely around livestock, other people, and uneven terrain. This feeder is not a substitute for safe vehicle operation or proper mounting.
