Hydronic Radiant Floor Heating Components

Build a hydronic radiant floor heating system around the needs of your home, garage, shop, or barn. The products listed in this collection include Crete-Heat insulated floor panels, PEX tubing, electric boilers, and installation accessories. Check each product's specifications and included components when planning the system.

In a hydronic system, heated fluid circulates through tubing embedded in the slab. The boiler supplies heat, the tubing carries the fluid, and the slab transfers heat to the space. Insulated panels help reduce downward heat loss and hold the tubing in its planned layout; the panels do not generate heat.

Crete-Heat Insulated Floor Panels

Crete-Heat panels combine EPS insulation, an integrated vapor barrier, and a tubing-holding grid. Interlocking edges and raised knobs help position compatible tubing during installation. Panel thickness affects insulation value and overall floor build-up.

  • 1-inch insulation: R-6.
  • 2-inch insulation: R-10.
  • 3-inch insulation: R-15.

Choose the panel thickness and tubing configuration for the project. The overall panel height includes the raised knobs, so check the product dimensions when calculating slab elevations and clearances. Insulation reduces heat transfer beneath the slab; it does not eliminate heat loss or guarantee even floor temperatures.

Prepare the base and install the panels according to current manufacturer instructions. Confirm slab thickness, concrete cover, reinforcement, vapor-control details, and applicable local requirements with the project designer or installer. An integrated panel vapor barrier does not remove the need to verify the complete assembly's requirements.

Electric Boilers and System Sizing

An electric boiler heats the circulating fluid. Select the boiler using a heating-load calculation and the complete system design, including the building's insulation, climate, heated area, tubing layout, and operating temperatures. Electrical amperage alone is not a sizing method.

Check the selected boiler package for included pumps, controls, expansion components, and any additional equipment required. Confirm voltage, circuit capacity, plumbing connections, and installation requirements before ordering. Have qualified electrical and plumbing professionals complete work required for the installation.

PEX Tubing and Layout

Oxygen-barrier PEX tubing carries heated fluid through the slab. Verify the tubing diameter, panel compatibility, temperature and pressure ratings, and connection requirements for the selected system.

Use the heating design to establish tubing spacing, loop lengths, manifold locations, flow rates, and control zones. Buying a coil of a particular length does not establish the correct loop length for a project. Tubing organizers can help position supply and return lines, but they do not replace a properly designed layout.

Plan Before Ordering

Confirm the heated floor area, calculated heat demand, panel thickness, tubing specification, boiler requirements, and quantities before placing an order. For outdoor snow-melt applications, verify that the selected components and system design are appropriate for that use; indoor floor-heating requirements should not be assumed to apply.
