Radiant Floor Panel Description

These insulating floor panels not only protect from heat loss into the ground but also include a vapor barrier as well. They hold the PEX tubing for easy spacing and installation. The modular, interconnecting design makes installation quick and easy. They're designed for use in almost any concrete slab: main floors, basements, garages, driveways, etc.

  • These panels are simple to install; simply set them on your flooring area
  • Overlapping lips ensure a straight line and AN organized installation automatically
  • The knobs on each panel securely hold the PEX tubing in place, so it's easy to evenly space
  • The panels ship in UV-protected heavy-duty plastic bags and may be stored outdoors until ready to use
  • The panels are ready for concrete out of the bag
  • One-inch panels have an R-6 rating and a 23 dB sound reduction
  • Has a 10-millimeter vapor barrier
  • Insulation is 1" thick, and 7/8" tall knobs add for an overall measurement of 1-7/8"

The panels can also be used on above-grade installations where concrete or gypcrete is normally used. For basements, a 'lightweight' concrete (sand instead of pea gravel) may be used in 1-1/2" thickness with 1/2" tubing.

Insulation Vapor Barrier

The board provides a total of 1" thick insulation to keep the radiant heat from being lost into the ground. The bottom of the panel also has a vapor barrier to protect against any rising moisture. These two items are critical for a proper, long-lasting installation that will provide decades of maintenance-free, efficient heating.

Installation

You'll want to make sure your graded material is level to within 1/4" so the boards will be properly supported. You want to prevent installing them over a ridge so there won't be any cracking in the panel itself. This could lead to heat leakage and also possible moisture access to the area above the panel and below the slab.

The easiest method of laying out the panels is to start in a corner and work across the longest wall. When you reach the end, the panels are easily cut to fit. Each panel will attach to the one next to it with the overlapping notch system. This will hold them in place while walking on and pouring. It also makes installing the Pex Tubing a breeze.

1.5" of light weight from the bottom of the knob is minimum with 3,000 psi mix. Concrete with pea stone or chips is 3". 1" R-6 Crete-Heat is fine for most over pour applications.

No, it is not designed for that.

How much is the load? A loaded grain truck would need the 40 PSI product, a heavier-duty version of the traditional flooring Crete Heat panels.

It's approximately 1" and yes can use it in that application.

Yes is the answer to all of your questions!

The use of wire mesh or rebar has no bearing on the use of Crete-Heat. You will need the slab to be poured as required.

No, the concrete board will not work.

Blue Board only has a 52% R-Value retention when in contact with the ground. EPS has a 94% R-Value retention. The vapor barrier is part of the panel.

At minimum use 1.5" of light weight concrete above the 1" or 2" thick panel.

Yes, We do this all the time and 1.5" from flat surface.
