Quick Overview

This practical and economical cattle oiler design also offers maximum insect protection year-round. The 45" x 15" hanging Rayon mop (click here) has an extremely long life. When mounted, it will extend approximately 10-12 inches below the tank.

The tank has holes in it approximately 1-1/2" down from the top that allow the liquid to weep onto the surrounding felt. When tipped or agitated, the insecticide flows through the holes and is absorbed by the felt, which then allows it to wick onto the mop.

The oiler is also available in a 30" length (click here)

Description of the Mop Oiler

This substantial cattle oiler is designed for expansive livestock operations and spans an impressive 45 inches in width. The durable steel boasts a generous 4-gallon capacity and features a convenient filler port on top, easily replenished and secured with the new metal screw-on lid.

To optimize its functionality, it is specifically designed for installation in alleyways or high-traffic areas, supported by the provided 14-link chains, each approximately 12 inches long. The steel tank incorporates weep holes that release pesticide when in use, strategically positioned slightly above the bottom to ensure controlled dispensing. This innovative design prevents constant dripping, minimizes ground mess, and ensures activation only when the oiler is in use.

As an enhancement, please note that the cap has been upgraded to a sturdy metal version, surpassing the plastic one shown in the accompanying pictures. This improvement further contributes to the longevity and reliability of our cattle oiler.

For your convenience, the cattle oiler arrives fully assembled and ready for immediate use. Its 'fill-and-forget' design allows for seamless integration into your livestock care routine, as the cows naturally apply pest protection by walking through the mop.

Barn World also carries cow brushes and other types of cattle oilers too!

Hanging Installation

The Mop Cattle Oiler is designed to hang effortlessly from the provided chains at either end. For optimal effectiveness, we recommend installing it in alleyways where cattle naturally pass underneath the mop. As the cattle move through, the mop's resistance along their back causes it to tip to the side, agitating enough to wet the felt around the tank, coating the mop below.

This ingenious, gravity-fed design ensures that the mop releases pest control only when in use, preventing any wastage when it's stationary. The simplicity of this mechanism not only maximizes efficiency but also contributes to a more economical and environmentally friendly pest control solution for your herd.

You'll want it to hang level, horizontally. It has small weep holes drilled in the lower sides of the tank so it's important that it's tilted as the cows pass under. The height should be just low enough so the cows are tipping it as they pass through.

Yes, these livestock oilers are made in and ship from Missouri.

The reservoir has holes in the sides of it that allow oil to seep out to the mop when it is titled. By raising or lowering the oiler so that the animal tilts it at a steeper angle, more oil will be released into the mop area. Ideally, a 45-90 degree angle when tipped is best for keeping the mop moist.
