How the Lick Wheels Work
As cattle lick and turn a wheel, its lower portion passes through the liquid supplement and carries a coating to the exposed feeding surface. The feeder’s concave, grooved bottom helps the wheels reach liquid near the base of the tank. Keep enough supplement in the feeder for the wheels to contact it, following the feeder and supplement instructions.
The mounting brackets support the wheels in their operating position. When replacing a damaged assembly, inspect the surrounding mounting points and check that the installed wheels rotate without binding. Correct fit matters more than choosing a wheel by diameter alone.
