Hand-Made Mohair Roper Cinch – Wide, Comfortable, and Built for Secure Riding

This premium hand-made roper cinch is crafted in the USA with exceptional attention to detail. Built from two layers of durable mohair cord and designed with beautifully woven-in bars, it offers outstanding comfort, breathability, and long-lasting performance. With its 31-strand construction and a leather latigo keeper on the offside, this cinch provides the stability and security riders expect from a high-quality roper-style design.

The roper cinch shape features a wider center that distributes pressure more evenly across the horse’s girth area. This helps prevent saddle rolling, improves balance, and offers increased comfort during long rides, ranch work, roping, or high-movement activities.

Why Riders Choose Roper-Style Mohair Cinches

  • Extra Stability: The wide center offers a secure hold that helps prevent shifting or saddle roll.
  • Superior Comfort: Mohair provides natural softness, breathability, and flexibility to reduce pressure points and heat build-up.
  • Durable & Dependable: Two layers of mohair cord and quality leather components ensure years of reliable performance.
  • Hand-Made Craftsmanship: Each cinch is individually made in the USA for exceptional quality and consistency.
  • Ideal for Many Disciplines: A great choice for ranch work, trail riding, roping, or any activity requiring maximum cinch stability.

For a description of each style, check out this site: http://5starequineproducts.com/cinchascinches/straight-roper-cinchas/ The quick answer in a nutshell is that it depends completely on your choice. The roper cinch has more area to spread out the psi over (pounds per square inch), but it is also wider in the middle which some people don't like. My personal preference for the disciplines you mentioned would be the straight cinch, because I like the narrower profile. However, if you want the psi spread over more surface area, then the roper would be the one to choose. Happy trails!

Yes, the information you have for measuring for a cinch is correct. The only thing that might change it would be if you had a drop skirt rigging or some other rigging form that hangs low. However, since your rigging is in skirt, that will not effect it. I use a 30" cinch on my 14'2 QH foundation gelding and it fits him fine. If I would err, I would rather it be on the side of having the cinch a little too long, than a little too short. Just not so long that you can't do it up properly. Happy trails!
