Description

The perfect wean-to-finish feeder for pigs from 10 pounds up to market weight.
This is our most popular feeder with the grower-finishers because it can be used to feed a very broad size range. The trough and feed wheel have been recently re-engineered to help young pigs quickly adjust to feeding themselves with minimal human intervention and no waste. It's designed to feed about 60 pigs all the way to market weight, and some users have successfully fed even more early weaners using modern feeds, without waste or reduction of grain!

Quality Pig Feeders keep profits high

This feeder eliminates the main causes of feed waste with practically no human intervention. The mixing action of the feed wheel stops pigs from sorting out and wasting feed components they don't like. The feeder design also limits waste by slowing or stopping the flow of feed into the trough when pigs stop eating. Regulated feed flow and a smooth, self-cleaning trough virtually eliminate spoilage.

  • Patented mechanical flow eliminates feed waste
  • Feed efficiency and rate of gain improve when feed is kept in top condition
  • Trough height, size of openings, and head spacing have been carefully designed for each size range to reduce stress and promote consumption
  • Minimum adjusting required saves labor

The optional fence-line adapter kit is sold separately, and 2 kits are required per feeder, one for each side of the pig feeder. This is an extremely handy kit to have if you intend to feed on both sides of a fence. It securely attaches to the trough divider and crossbar on the feeder itself, and the pre-drilled holes allow for easy installation. The kit is made with steel and finished in a white, glossy enamel as shown below!

Pig Feeder Anchor Brackets

These brackets prevent an empty feeder from being knocked over when empty. The common 'L-brackets' come in extremely handy to secure the trough and connected feeder to the floor or a pallet. They can be used to attach to a buried railroad tie, a pallet, or even a concrete pad if available. To keep your feeder upright and working properly, consider bolting it down for security and to make sure there's no interruption in feeding!

RF2 Pig Feeder Video Review

Watch our RF2 Pig Feeder video review to see how this high-capacity, wean-to-finish feeder operates, reduces feed waste, and improves hog feeding efficiency. Perfect for small farms and commercial swine operations.

In today’s facilities, feed generally represents up to 65% of production costs. The Osborne big wheel pig feeders for nursery and finishing have been setting high standards for over 30 years.

The original round-trough leaders give the animals more space to eat and create a feeding environment that promotes consumption. They stand in a 360° spoke-like configuration that allows more mouths in the trough because they’re not standing shoulder to shoulder. This design provides more non-confrontational access and allows more pigs to eat at one time than a traditional rectangular or straight-line feeder.

The mechanical flow design of the feeders keeps fresh feed flowing and stops feeding when it’s not called for. This on-demand system prevents feed from lying in the trough untouched, where it can get kicked or knocked out of the feeder or even sit and rot if it gets wet.

The paddle sweeps on the feeder bar, helping clean the bottom of the trough as the pigs turn the wheel to call for food.

These feeders work well in large operations, too! They're built to be used in high-use environments, as shown in the picture below, and will stand up to years of use in high-volume settings.

The Osborne Big Wheel Feeder is built so pigs can take just the amount of feed they need. Instead of relying on gravity, the feeder only releases feed when pigs interact with it. This helps reduce waste and keeps the trough from getting overfilled. Unlike traditional feeders, it doesn’t require constant adjustments as pigs grow. By controlling the flow naturally, the feeder helps pigs eat efficiently and supports better growth. It’s a dependable option for wean-to-finish pigs, whether on a small farm or in a larger swine operation.

When pigs are first introduced to the Big Wheel Feeder, the trough is usually filled manually. Very quickly, they figure out that moving or rotating the feed wheel releases feed from the hopper. This interaction is natural and encourages pigs to eat efficiently, guiding the feed toward the outer edges of the trough where it’s easiest to reach. Over time, this reduces feed waste and helps maintain better feeding habits. The feeder is especially well-suited for wean-to-finish pigs and works equally well on small farms or larger swine operations.

Yes, most Big Wheel Feeder models can be used outdoors without issues. Even in rain or snow, the self-cleaning feed wheel keeps the trough clear, and plugging rarely happens when the feeder has enough pigs using it. The way the hopper sits above the trough, combined with the Big Wheel’s design, also helps prevent moisture from building up. For pens with only a few pigs, adding a few small weeping holes in the trough can help drain any extra water before it causes problems.

Rectangular feeders often crowd pigs together, which can lead to more competition and wasted feed. The round trough of the Big Wheel Feeder spreads pigs evenly around the feeder, giving them more space to stand and eat comfortably. This design reduces stress and helps feed be used more efficiently. Because the round feeder takes up less floor space, it can fit in the center of a pen or along a fenceline, allowing a single feeder to serve two groups of pigs at once.
