Heating Pad Description

Farrowing pads provide a warm, controlled surface that supports the health and growth of piglets by maintaining an ideal temperature, reducing stress, and helping prevent chilling. They offer a safer, energy-efficient alternative to heat lamps, ensuring piglets stay comfortable without the risk of overheating.

Specifications of the farrowing heat pad

  • Accommodates 8-10 pigs per side per pad
  • Energy-efficient usage: 2.40 kWh/day/litter per pad
  • Operates on 120 VAC
  • 10-foot power cord for convenient placement

Heat Pad Controllers

Heating pad controllers provide a convenient way to manually adjust surface temperatures, ideal for creating the perfect environment for young animals. By default, these heating pads maintain a surface temperature of 30-35°F above ambient air. For more control, the optional rheostat-style controllers let you easily lower the temperature as needed. Acting like a dimmer switch, they offer precise voltage adjustments, allowing you to reduce surface warmth and save on energy costs when full heat isn't necessary. With a simple, easy-set dial, you can quickly create a comfortable, stable space that supports the health and growth of your animals.

Thank you for your interest in our Farrowing Heat Pads. The pad limitation is 30-35 above air temperature (provided the pad surface is uncovered). It's not dependent on any type of internal or external control feature. The element size, type, density, and the surface area allow heat dissipation into the air combine to limit the surface temperature. You can only further limit the output with a Manual, Rheostat control (FE-00F911) that reduces the power flowing to the pad at a fixed level, thereby reducing the heat produced. Or, by using a Thermostatic Control that variably regulates the power flowing to pads based on air temperature changes. Depending on what the supplemental heat requirements of a particular type of animal are, and the air temperatures/environment where a pad is being used, either control may be acceptable if needed. In many cases, our customers use no control at all and simply unplug pads when no supplemental heat is needed. Or, plug them into a household timer that automatically shuts off power during warm parts of the day (a very common practice with exotic, cold-blooded animals in Southern U.S. states).
