Hog Scales for Accurate, Low-Stress Livestock Weighing

Accurate animal weights are important for monitoring growth, managing feed, and making informed decisions about livestock. A well-designed hog scale provides a contained weighing area that helps keep animals under control while making the weighing process easier for the operator.

This 5-foot livestock scale is designed for weighing hogs and other smaller livestock. Its enclosed design helps reduce unnecessary animal movement, allowing you to obtain consistent and accurate weights without creating unnecessary stress.

The optional wheel kit makes the hog scale portable, allowing one person to move it between pens or weighing areas. Instead of bringing the animals to a stationary scale, you can take the scale directly to the animals. This can make routine weighing easier, particularly when animals are located in multiple pens.

The weighing mechanism is cable-free, and the scale platform is designed to limit unnecessary movement while an animal is being weighed. This helps the scale capture an accurate weight quickly.

Hog Scale Options

This livestock scale is designed for regular use in livestock operations and can be configured with several options. Choose the display and mobility features that best fit your weighing needs.

Hog Scale Display Options

The scale is available with either a mechanical dial or a digital weight indicator. The mechanical dial provides a simple, easy-to-read display, while the digital indicator offers additional features for recording and transferring weight information.

Mechanical Hog Scale Dial

The mechanical dial is a popular choice for straightforward livestock weighing. The large dial can be read at a glance, making it easy to check an animal's weight as soon as the scale stabilizes. It is also an economical option for operations looking for a dependable mechanical weighing system.

The system includes a lever with optional hydraulic damping. The dial can be read even when an animal moves during the weighing process.

Digital Hog Scale Display

The digital scale indicator provides continuous re-zeroing and a quick-freeze feature that holds the recorded weight until the scale is unloaded. An RS232 port allows weight information to be transferred electronically to a computer database for recordkeeping.

The digital option includes the cable required to connect the indicator to a PC and provides weight readings with precision to one-tenth of a pound.

Hog Scale Wheel Kit

The optional wheel kit is available for both the 18" and 24" hog scales. The kit includes a handle that raises and lowers the wheels at one end of the scale, allowing one person to move the scale between locations.

A portable hog scale can be especially useful when livestock are housed in multiple pens. Moving the scale to the animals can eliminate the need to herd them to a fixed weighing location.

Choosing a Hog Scale for Your Operation

A properly sized livestock scale can make routine animal weighing easier and more consistent. The 18" and 24" models provide different platform widths, while the choice between a mechanical dial and digital indicator depends on how you prefer to read and record weights.

Adding the wheel kit provides another level of flexibility by allowing the scale to be moved from pen to pen. For operations where animals are spread across multiple areas, bringing the scale to the livestock can save time and simplify the weighing process.
