The handle operates a plate that slides through the guides and directly under the collar or boot where the grain collects. Pulling it open allows the grain to flow past the valve and be dispensed directly beneath it. The horizontal is best for manually filling buckets directly underneath the bin as it provides the largest ground clearance possible. The 30° angle collar and slide valve are typical when using an auger to unload the feed bin.
