This popular plastic hay feeder is designed for horse safety with overlapping joints & countersunk fasteners. It's made with 2" thick, UV-resistant yellow resin and includes a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The four-piece design helps keep shipping costs low and forms a round, 8'- 4" diameter (100"), 35" tall hay feeder. The feeder is light enough to be rolled by hand and only weighs 120 lbs but the legs have openings built into the bottom so the 'feet' may be staked to the ground to prevent it from moving!

Please note there has been a slight design change to remove the excess holes in the feeder. The current feeder design is shown in the bottom picture below.

Questions

Question:

Question: what is the diameter of the feeder? I'm looking at this as an option for horse stalls like the photo above. I'm trying to determine how far out a section would stick out from the corner. I see you're located in Parker CO. do these ship from CO? If so would they be available for pick up? Thank you

Answer:
The Poly Round Horse Hay Feeder ships on a pallet from South Dakota. We're able to fit up to (5) on a single pallet for the most economical shipping rates.

It has an 8 ' 4" outside diameter and a 35" side wall.

If you'd like a quote with shipping to your address, please let us know and we will be happy to forward one for your review.

Question:

Are they available in black still?

Answer:
We're sorry but the black feeder has been discontinued and the old inventory has been sold. The new yellow color has been shown to last longer in extreme heat and cold temperatures.

If you have any other questions or would like a quote with shipping, please let us know and we'll be happy to help.

Question:

Anybody using them in -30 temps up North. Live in ND the coldest place on Earth some days. Do they crack in the cold and what is the warranty? Thanks.

Answer:
These feeders are made in South Dakota and are designed to be used outdoors, in the heat and cold, year round. There isn't a minimum temperature rating per say but each feeder comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from Sioux Steel that covers workmanship and any defect in the poly material.

Question:

I'm looking to change out suppliers for hay ring and your name came up in my search. I've got 70 horses in a herd environment and I'm looking to move away from the traditional metal round bale hay feeder rings. I need something that can withstand lots of mud, lots of horses, and will last awhile. I'm very curious about your product and am also wondering if I were to buy 10, if there are any discounts I could get for buying in bulk?

Answer:
Yes, we can offer pricing and shipping discounts. Please forward your delivery zip code and we'll rely with a quote for your review.

Question:

How can you anchor them? Do the hay feeders have points where they can be staked into the ground to prevent them from moving around? Our horses will push the metal ones around.

Answer:
The bottom of the legs have openings built in so it may be staked to the ground in windy areas. See this picture that shows the holes in the bottom of the legs for anchoring the feeder to the ground. Thanks!

Question:

If making a corner feeder out of the round bale feeder panel, what would be the distance from each corner? Can you make a round feeder of of 2 or 3 panels? How big would those combinations be?

Answer:
There are four sections to make a completely round feeder. The circumference or distance all the way around the assembled feeder just over 25 feet and each section would have an arc that's approximately 6-1/4 feet. The straight line distance between the ends of the feeder is approximately 5.65 feet. Hope that helps

Question:

Do you offer pricing discounts for orders of (2) or more? How much freight to ship (5) to 28602 is there a discount for 6 of more?

Answer:
Yes, we can offer discounted pricing for multiple feeders. The biggest advantage is that we can ship up to five feeders on a single pallet for the most economical per feeder shipping rates.
I'll email quotes for your review shortly.

Question:

How much hay does this poly horse hay feeder hold? Can you fit three on a pallet for near the same shipping costs as one?

Answer:
The Poly Round Horse Hay Feeder has a very large 8'4" diameter. The sides measure 35" tall and it can be flipped upside down to give shorter animals easier access to the hay. We can ship five feeders on a single pallet and we'll forward a quote with shipping for (3) of them for your review shortly.

Question:

Does this horse bale feeder have a bottom? What would the total price be to ship it to zip code 53126? Thank you for the help.

Answer:
The feeder does not have a bottom. To keep the bale off the ground, a lot of customers will set it on a pallet. The Poly Square Panel Hay Feeder (click here) is available with a bottom. We will have a shipping quote for you shortly.

Question:

I use large 6' diameter round hay bales. Would they fit in this hay feeder?

Answer:
Yes, this poly hay feeder has an 8' diameter and will work well with your round bales. Please take a look at the picture below to see how easy it is to place the feeder over the round bale.

If you would like a shipping quote to your address, please provide your shipping city and zip code and I'll get a quote for your review.

Question:

Can an additional panel be added to make the feeder bigger?

Answer:
This particular poly hay feeder cannot be made larger. The angles are designed to make an 8' feeder and adding a panel would change the angles of each connection so they couldn't be bolted together. We do offer the Square Panel Hay Feeders (click here) that do allow for custom sizes.

Question:

I have miniature horses. Is this round poly hay ring to high for them to reach?

Answer:
This would work well for miniature horses. if they have any trouble reaching over the 35" wall height, the feed can be flipped upside down so the legs are in the air rather than adding to the height of the ring. It would save about 5" or so off the total height.

Question:

My four horses don't share very well and think I need another feeder. I use small square bales too and would like to know if they could be used in this feeder. I saw your Square Panel Horse Hay Feeder and wonder if that would be better for small square bales but I then would need to change it whenever I used a round bale. Help!

Answer:
The poly round horse hay feeder would work with your square bales as well. It has an 8' diameter so it should accommodate square hay bales and just click this link for the Square Poly Panel Horse Hay Feeder to compare. If there's anything we can help with or if you'd like a quote with shipping for either one, please let us know and we'll be happy to forward one for your review.

Question:

Is this a durable horse hay feeder? Our horses seem pretty rough on the steel ones and I'm not convinced that the poly will hold up.

Answer:
The poly will hold up quite well as it is fairly "flexible" when compared to steel. It has a bit of give and won't bend or rust like metal will. The poly material is made with a UV-resistant resin and is designed to be out in the sun year-round. It is a heavy-duty polyethylene and not a thin or cheap plastic like other brands. Another advantage is that all of the connecting hardware is recessed so they can't scape or cut their legs when feeding. Bent and broken metal (especially any with rust) can create tremendous hazards for horse.

Question:

Is it possible to order extra panels for these feeders? I have 3 damaged (unusable) panels and would like to replace them?

Answer:
You can order individual panels so that you only need to replace what you need. Please let us know if you'd like a quote with shipping for (3) and we'll forward on for your review.

Question:

I'm about to order two more of your poly round bale feeders...We already own five, and the ratio of hay eaten to hay wasted improved by 50%! Great product and look for our order today! No question--just a happy customer.

Answer:
Thank you so much for taking the time to write. We're very pleased that you're happy with the feeders and they're working out well with your horses. While we like to hear from all of our customers, it's especially nice when one takes the time to tell you about your product and how well they like them. Thank You!

Question:

You mentioned you're developing a plastic square panel feeder for the Large Square Bales (3' x3' x 9') with a floor option?

Answer:
The new plastic feeder is available and is the Square Panel Poly Horse Hay Feeder (click here). It can be used to create almost any size of feeder and is quickly and easily assembled to make a square bale feeder. Each panel is 3' square and is interchangeable between walls and optional floor panels if desired. A floor is not necessary but is an available option and nice to have in dusty areas. See it and all of our Horse Hay Feeders here.
