How To Adjust The Box Blade Teeth

This video shows how easy it is to adjust the box blade teeth to one of the three depth settings to match your project.

How to Assemble the Box Blade

Box Blade Compatibility and Specifications

The Box Blade is designed to fit Category 1 tractors equipped with a standard 3-point hitch, making it a versatile attachment for a wide range of equipment. Behlen Country offers sub-compact, standard, and heavy-duty Box Blades to suit various needs.

Important Note: Some Category 0 tractors may have shorter lift arms or 5/8-inch diameter lift arm ball ends. The sub-compact Box Blade can fit these tractors if they are equipped with Cat 1 ball ends. Ensure the pins are installed on the inside of the 3-point frame for proper operation.

Hydraulic Lift System Requirements

Check the tractor's 3-point hydraulic lift system to ensure it operates smoothly and has sufficient power to lift the Box Blade. Refer to your tractor’s operator manual or consult your dealer for necessary adjustments to optimize the hydraulic system. For detailed specifications and instructions, I&T shop manuals are available at most farm equipment dealers.

Additional Tips for Smaller Tractors

  • Smaller tractors may require front counterweights to balance the weight of the Box Blade properly.
  • It is recommended to use a tractor equipped with a Rollover Protection System (ROPS) and always wear a seat belt for safe operation.

Operating the Box Blade

  • Adjust the height of the Box Scraper and shanks to control the amount of material you want to move.
  • Setting the shanks deeper requires slower tractor speeds and increases stress on both the Box Scraper and the tractor. It is more effective to move smaller amounts of material over multiple passes than attempting to move everything in one pass.
  • The Box Blade is primarily designed for pulling. While it can be used to push material, exercise caution to avoid overbinding the lift and tie arms or damaging the top link and tractor lift arms.
  • Lower the blade to the ground and move forward. Adjust your speed and angle based on soil conditions for optimal performance.
  • Keep tractor speed under 5 mph during operation.
  • Always lift the Box Blade off the ground when making turns to prevent damage.
  • Navigate sharp dips diagonally and avoid steep drops to prevent the tractor and blade from getting stuck.
  • Stay alert for hidden hazards on the terrain to ensure safe operation.
